A federal court declined to dismiss a suit seeking to compel USDA to regulate animal handling in poultry processing plants and the Humane Society filed suit against Smithfield Foods claiming that the company’s use of gestation crates is misleading. Also, several producer groups filed an EPA petition challenging the agency’s chlorpyrifos tolerance revocation and the New York Public Employment Relations Board certified state’s first agricultural worker union.
